The 2001 Australian National Northern Soul Weekender  took place in Melbourne on the weekend of the 16th to the 18th of November, 2001

"I hope you have had some time to recover from the stress of organising THE MOST AWESOME WEEKENDER I HAVE EVER BEEN TO. Thank you so much. Melbourne is so beautiful and full of cool places to go to. I wish,I could move there. And I really liked the fact, that the venues were accessible to everyone (despite the fact, that the was some occasional irritation on the dancefloor....who cares). Did you see the two goths in the Cherry? I wouldn't be surprised if they come again. I have the CD on loop while trying to get back into my daily routine. Luckily I am off work until next week."

 "Just a quick note to the Melbourne crew and their wives for organising the National. Certainly the Perth contingent enjoyed every minute & I'm sure that goes for everyone else. The venues, merchandise, people & sounds....all first class. Tough job next year for Adelaide but no shortage of assistance this time round. Roll on next October."

 "A big hello, congratulations and thank you to all the Melbourne soul crew for such a successful 2001 National weekender. To say it was excellent would be a HUGE understatement!! It was absolutely magic! Top sounds, top venues, top people and top buzz, everything worked so well:) That's from me and the Sydney mob......... Personally........ I listened to, danced to, and bought soul records non-stop from Thursday through till Tuesday (brilliant!!) and had the best time in the world.....I didn't want it to end (even missed my plane home!!). Somehow I managed to keep going all weekend with the "live now, pay later" approach - I'm adjusting quite well to the wheelchair;) and should be walking again in time for Adelaide 2002;)"
